The heating system pipes play a very large role, because it is on them that the cost of working on the installation of the heating system as a whole, the life of the service, tightness. That is why it is so important to make the right choice, so we will tell you what pipes are, their disadvantages and advantages.
Types of pipes, their advantages and disadvantages
To install the heating system, there are several types of pipes:
Polypropylene;
Steel;
Metal -plastic;
Copper;
Stainless steel pipes.
Consider in more detail each type of pipe.
More recently, steel pipes were used almost everywhere. Due to the fact that the heating temperature can reach 135 degrees C, they are quite plastic, affordable price, are well welded, there are seamless pipes GOST 8732 – their use was not limited. However, it is worth noting the shortcomings that are many:
Installation is carried out only by welding;
Corrosion will appear over time;
Mounting with aluminum instruments is strictly prohibited;
Appearance requires decor;
On the inside, scale forms over time, reducing thermal conductivity.
Copper pipes are a very good option, however, their pricing policy and incompatibility with aluminum are very large minuses. If you put copper pipes, then guaranteed service life is at least 50 years. As soon as the heating system begins to function, the top of the pipes is covered with copper oxide, which helps to protect against corrosion. Their appearance is more attractive, which is a lot important. Thanks to a light mount, installing pipe from copper will not take much time. But among the large number of advantages, there are drawbacks:
If the heating system works at full power, the copper oxide film may be damaged;
High price;
In contact with aluminum, both metal are destroyed.
Stainless steel pipes have very good characteristics, because they are not corroded, durable, attractive appearance, an scale does not form inside. But this version of the pipes also has its drawbacks:
Welding should be careful, there is a probability of impaired integrity;
Installation of a more complex level;
High price.
Polypropylene pipes are very unreliable, because at a temperature of 95 degrees C, they begin to sag. Therefore, they are used in low -temperature systems.
Metal -plastic pipes have a long service life, fast and reliable installation, the material is mounted with any metal. The disadvantages include – low heat conductivity.
Knowing such characteristics, the choice of pipes for the heating system will not be difficult.
