Before installing the lock, you need to determine which type you need, there are several types of locks: mortise and overhead.
The patch lock is installed on the surface of the door leaf. When installing such a lock, the integrity and strength of the door is almost not violated, the overhead lock is easily mounted.
The cut lock is located directly inside the door. It is considered the most protected from power hacking. But it must be taken into account that the security of this type of lock depends primarily on the strength of the door. This castle is more difficult to put on a door that does not have a special seat.
Now you can proceed directly to its installation. The door locks are attached at an altitude of approximately 90 cm from the floor. There should be no difficulties with the installation of the overhead lock, but the installation of a crazy lock requires a certain preparation.
Before starting to install the lock, it is advisable to make a simple paper or cardboard template. It is much easier to install the lock with the template, applying it to the door and circling the place of the insert with a pencil. This template must correspond to the size and shape of the lock. Using the template, mark the depth of the nesting, the location of the top of the castle and the keyhole.
After making the template and applying the marks to the door leaf, using the drill (the diameter of the drill is equal to the door box thick) drill the hole at the depths of the lock.
Cut the nest with a chisel and chisel so that the front bar does not leave the edge of the door leaf. Determine the installation site of the locking bar as follows: Cover the door and put forward a bolt, so you will get a clear imprint that indicates where exactly you need to install a locking bar.
For additional protection of your dwelling, you can install anti -icing paws that insure door loops. The paws are metal stripes fixed on the door leaf with bolts and resting with the door closed into the holes located on the door box.
Basically, care for the lock comes down to lubrication, which prevents jamming and creaking. Sometimes there is a need to disassemble the lock in order to remove rust, install a spring that has fallen in place, etc. In this case, it should be borne in mind that when installing a repaired lock back, you need to use larger screws.
Now you know everything about how to correctly install and care for door locks, and your locks will work properly for a dozen years.
