Correctly laid tile will serve for a very long time. But over time, no matter how good the care of the ceramic coating can be carried out, and various mechanical damage will occur: from microscopic chips and mother -in -law, the enamel surface to deep cracking of ceramic tiles or its lag behind the walls or floor. All this may not be eager to upset the owner of the apartment or at home. And if this grieves and the hostess, then you have to urgently do something. But what? Do not change due to one, two tiles the whole tile? Stop, just don’t panic. There is a way to repair a tile! Moreover, you can easily carry out such repair of apartments with your own hands without resorting to the services of expensive masters.
Ways to carry out repair work on tiles depend on the nature and seriousness of damage to the tile coating. Let us consider in more detail the most common options for problems with ceramic tiles and possible ways to solve them without resorting to tile services.
The most frequent, but fairly simple option for damage to the tile coating is to detach the tiles from the base. There may be several reasons: violation of the installation technology, moisture, temperature, mechanical damage, etc. In most cases, to eliminate the designated problem, it is advised to carefully remove the tile, remove the solution from its surface and from the base (wall or floor) under the tile and lay it in the same place with the help of glue for tiles. But, as practice testifies, in 90 cases out of 100, this tile will be damaged (crack) while removing the solution from it or will be a little bulging compared to others, if the solution is not completely removed.
There is a simpler and more effective method. The tile that exfoliated, shattered or tapped (this can be several tiles adjacent to the exfoliated), you must again carefully remove it, trying not to damage it and not scratch the enamel. To do this, first you need to remove the grout from the seams and then carefully, shaking, remove the necessary tiles (or tiles). Sections of the solution that are not strong enough, you need to remove from the wall (or floor) and tiles. Then it is necessary to carefully clean the tile and the surface area where it was installed, from dust, and, without knocking down the entire solution, primed the surface. Further, cover the base and tiles with silicone abundantly, making a “net”, and install the tile in the same place, carefully pressing and leaving at the seams using blades or crosses. Silicon squeezed out from the seams should immediately be removed with a damp sponge or a rag moistened with vinegar, which perfectly cleanses the surface. After a day, the seams can be wiped with a grouting mixture.
If the tile has cracks or chips, then there is nothing to be done and damaged tiles must be replaced with a new. It is not for nothing that experienced craftsmen advise to leave 5-10 tiles in the reserve of primary styling-you never know what! If there are no tiles left in the reserve-you need to choose the same in color and shade (which is not so and just do) or turn on creative thinking and invent some kind of pattern of tiles if you could not choose the necessary shade. In the latter case, you will also have to remove several “healthy” tiles to create a semblance of an artistic solution of laying tiles.
The cracked or split tiles must be carefully removed without damaging the neighboring. First you need to remove the grout from the seams and some sharp object (for example, with a nail or spatula) to scatter the dried gluing solution around the entire perimeter of the tiles from the seam. This is time -consuming, so you need to stock up on. Then, the angles of the tiles removed and slowly continue to chop the tile in small pieces with a chisel with a chisel. Next, you need to install a new tile on a silicone or on a solution, having previously removed the old from the surface of the wall or floor.
The described method is suitable only if the base of the wall or floor is quite strong and holds the adhesive solution well. If the solution on which the tile was laid is crumbling or failing – it must certainly be knocked down and put the tiles again using traditional technology. Otherwise, in the future, new problems cannot be avoided.
