Nowadays, any desired. But is it worth it to part with old wooden windows, if they can still be restored? Still, a tree is a tree and no metal-plastic will replace it. And if you think that the repair of a window from wood is only a matter for specialists, then you are mistaken.
Any home master will deal with this. You will need an assistant and some tools. So, prepare:
brush;
sandpaper;
brush;
painting roller;
Passatigi;
two spatulas, rubber and metal;
Fomka;
hammer and nails;
chisel;
screwdriver;
Building hairdryer for painting.
For painting the window you will need:
solvent;
putty;
primer;
dye;
Maslar adhesive tape;
seal;
Window fittings.
The entire process of repairing window frames is divided into several stages.
Stage One – Remove the window
First we remove the window from the loops. If the frame is poorly removed, take the Fomka, pick up the frame from the bottom, lift it up as high as possible and ask the assistant to cut the pins located inside the loops. It remains to remove the old accessories and take out the glass.
Stage Second – Down with old paint!
Now we take off old paint. This is easily done by a building hairdryer. He will melt the paint and you only have to clean it with a metal spatula. Or you can remove the paint with a special solvent.
If there are rotten places or fungus on the frame, clean them with sandpaper. A strongly damaged tree will have to be replaced, and the bias of the frame and boxes can be fixed with corners that are inserted into prepared grooves.
Stage third – protect the wood.
Painting the frame also requires preparation. At first, the whole frame is well put down, especially in those places where there are cracks and corners were inserted. This will hide the disadvantages of wood and additionally protect the frame. After the putty dries, the frame is skinned and covered with any protective composition. Only after that you can insert glass and paint.
Four stage – glass, paint and accessories
Next, insert the glass and fix them with new wooden stacks. Then, along the entire perimeter of the frame, we nip a rubber seal so that the window closes tightly.
Now, with painting tape, we seal the glass, clean it from dust and degrease the frame. Paint with a roller or a brush in several layers, and each layer should completely dry. After the window dries, fasten the fittings.
That’s all. Your old window has found a new life.
