Balcony insulation in Khrushchevka

A huge number of residents of the CIS still live in very modest conditions. Khrushchevka is one of the most amazing Soviet ideas of the past. Small kitchen, low ceilings, combined bathroom – these are its sad features. The balcony insulation will be able to add several meters to its area.

Insulation is performed in several stages. Initially, the area is increased and the frame of the room is created again. Remove all external fences and internal partitions, leaving only the balcony base. After driving a channel near the floor, getting the opportunity to increase the balcony from all sides by 40 cm. Then the frame of the balcony is welded from the corner.

The second stage is an outer balcony finish and roof construction. The joints are properly adjusted and compacted, preventing moisture.

The next stage is the balcony glazing of the balcony, but it is better to entrust it to professionals. After that there is a directly insulation.

The basalt insulation itself is placed between the balcony frame and the guide strips. To do this, use a variety of natural and synthetic fabrics: polystyrene, styrodur, mineral wool and others. Particular attention is paid to the joints of the insulation, each of them is carefully treated with mounting foam so that moisture does not fall.

To avoid condensation formation, there is a special vapor barrier. The interior decoration is performed by a variety of materials, depending on preferences and material capabilities: fiberboard lining, natural wood sheathing, plastic.

Repairing the balcony floor, perform the screed and impregnation of the floor, or with the help of the same materials that were used on the walls. Some prefer the installation of “warm floors”. Details such as blinds, skirting boards, lighting and jewelry are selected at their discretion.

So, from a landfill for rubbish, the balcony can be turned into a functional useful room, while increasing the area of the apartment.
